The Sierra Club, a left-leaning environmental group, is launching a new campaign aimed at curbing the growth of American social clubs.
The Sierra Club announced on Monday that it has launched a new website, the Clubcar, to give more details about how it plans to implement its “Social Club Action Plan”.
The site is a direct response to a series of actions taken by the Sierra, a member-run organization with membership in the US of over 150,000, over the last several years.
The Clubcar website outlines the organization’s five key objectives, which include the removal of the cap on membership in American social networks, an end to discrimination against women and the eradication of sexism, homophobia and transphobia.
According to the Sierra website, there are currently nearly 6,500 American social network groups that represent around 80% of the US population, and that total is expected to reach 15,000 in 2022.
This includes the social networks that are currently dominated by white, middle-class, wealthy, and male members.
The group also wants to end discrimination against LGBT people, women, Native Americans and people of color.
The website also outlines how the Sierra aims to “end the epidemic of sex trafficking in the United States by tackling this scourge through a strategy of prevention and intervention that will result in the full legalization of sex work in the USA”.
Sierra Club President David Brat, in a press conference, called on Americans to join the group’s “Campaign to End Sex Trafficking”, and promised to be “the first to stand up for victims of human trafficking”.
According to a report in The Washington Post, the Sierra is already one of the largest and most powerful anti-poverty charities in the country.
The social networks are often used to sell products and services to middle- and upper-class Americans.
The group has been at the forefront of social-media campaigns to fight the sale of alcohol, cigarettes and tobacco to children and adults.
However, the group has also been a champion of gun control, which has come under fire from some conservative activists.
The organization has been criticized for not working with more progressive organizations to enact new gun-control laws, including the landmark Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993, which banned assault weapons and other weapons that can be used to kill people.
The National Rifle Association, the country’s most powerful lobbying group, has also criticised the group for not acting more aggressively against the proliferation of firearms in the hands of the illegal gun trade.
The new website will help the Sierra and other groups work together to “expand the legal gun market in the 21st century”, according to the announcement.
The American Civil Liberties Union also praised the Sierra for “standing up to the gun lobby”, and said it was “making the case that banning the sale and use of firearms is a civil rights issue, not a gun control issue”.
The Sierra is also facing criticism from its conservative allies, who have called for its closure.
In January, the Washington Post reported that the Sierra was “the only prominent liberal US-based social club that has not stepped up to fight gun control”.
The group said it had “decided not to defend” a state law that would have restricted the use of the semi-automatic rifles used by US law enforcement, and instead called for an expanded debate on gun control.
The groups new website follows similar actions taken last year by the National Rifle Act (NRA) lobby group, which also called for a boycott of the social network, despite its support for gun control measures.
