The Austin country club’s new jersey, designed by local graphic designer, is the result of a two-month design contest, the club says.
The jersey was unveiled today by the club’s president, John Matson, and its primary sponsor, the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).
It is the clubs first official shirt design, the company says.
“We designed the jersey to be something that fits the brand of the Austin area,” Matson told the media today.
“The Austin area is a very welcoming community and we wanted to bring the players’ club and the local fans something that would be a meaningful part of that,” he said.
“Our logo was born out of that and it is just a shirt.”
The shirt features a club logo with the word “AUSTIN” across the front and the club logo on the back.
“A few years ago, I came across this great graphic design company and they helped me to design this new logo,” Muthons said.
The logo was inspired by the Austin skyline and the city’s history.
“It’s a little bit of a homage to the Austin soccer scene and the history that the players have built in the city over the years,” he added.
The club is currently seeking funding to complete the design and deliver it to the USSF, with plans to launch the shirt in 2018.
The shirt is made from cotton, polyester and polypropylene.
It has a size XS and S to fit most men, and XS to fit women.
It is made of polyester.
Matson said the new design was a collaboration with the Austin County Commissioners office and the City of Austin.
“For me, it was an honor to design and create a shirt for the Austin country team,” he told the Austin American-Statesman.
“I was just blown away by the support and enthusiasm from the players,” Mathy said.
Muthisons team has received some positive feedback from the public.
“In Austin, the people are always open to new ideas and new opportunities,” he continued.
“You have to have a good heart and I really believe that we have a lot of that in this team.”
Matson says the design has been viewed more than 1.5 million times on the company’s Facebook page.
“This shirt is not only the best design I’ve seen in Austin, it’s the best shirt that I’ve ever designed,” he concluded.
“Thank you to all of you for your support and we hope you’ll keep coming back to support us,” he concludes.
